The race will start fifty years after the Golden Globe Race, ancestor of the Vendée Globe. Participants are limited to sailing on boats with equipment similar to that available at the time of the Golden Globe Challenge in 1968. This means sailing without modern technology and without satellite navigation aids and competitors are only allowed to modify their boats to improve their safety. They can however remove some accessories too cumbersome, as the central table of the cabin The race will start on 1st July 2018 in Les Sables-d'Olonne and will drive around the world passing through the three capes, Cape of Good Hope, Cape Leeuwin and Cape Horn. There will be several "gateways" along the route, where skippers can be interviewed (without stopping) and films and letters can be shown. We have the honour to see 6 boats on the start line equipped with a Watt&Sea hydrogen generator.
